Disclaimers
We would rather show you evidence than sell you adjectives. This page sets out in plain language what our claims mean, how they were measured, and where their limits are. Every asterisk on this website points here. If anything is still unclear after reading it, write to us and we will send you the report behind the claim.
1. What KyoAir products are, and what they are not
KyoAir purifiers and monitors are consumer air-quality appliances. They are not medical devices, diagnostic devices, life-safety devices or personal protective equipment.
KyoAir does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. Nothing on this website, in our product listings, in our blog or in any material we publish is medical advice, and nothing here is a claim that a KyoAir product will protect you or anyone in your home from any illness, infection, allergy or respiratory condition. If you have a health concern, please speak to a qualified doctor.
Where our filters are described as medical grade, near medical grade or H13 HEPA, that language describes the grade of the filter media as measured in a laboratory. It does not mean the appliance is a medical device, is certified for clinical use, or is approved by any medical regulator. Where our product quiz uses the phrase medical-grade defence, it refers to the same filter grade and to the antimicrobial layer described in Section 5. It is not a medical claim.
2. Air-quality readings and before and after figures
This section covers the asterisk on "AQI 186 to AQI ~25 in up to 12 minutes*" wherever it appears.
Any before and after figure we show, including any air check or air audit we carry out at your home or office, is a measurement of airborne particulate at a single point at a single moment. It is a reading of air, not a reading of health, and it is not a health outcome.
The "AQI 186 to AQI ~25" figure and its associated timing are illustrative results obtained under optimal controlled test conditions, in a sealed space at the highest fan setting, with the unit sized generously for the volume being cleared. Conditions of that kind are not typical of a working home, a car cabin or an office, and the figure should be read as an indication of what the machine is capable of rather than as a result you should expect.
What we do claim is this: the air leaving a KyoAir unit is filtered air. The air in your room becomes cleaner over time and with continuous, correct use. A momentary reading cannot show you the long-term benefit of running a purifier, and it is not a promise of the number you will see in your own home.
Your own results will differ. Readings vary with room size, ceiling height, ventilation and door and window use, occupancy, season, outdoor air quality, and the pollution sources inside your space such as cooking, incense or smoking. Two readings taken minutes apart in the same room can differ substantially.
Consumer-grade sensors, including those built into our own products, are indicative instruments. They are not reference-grade regulatory monitoring equipment. Treat their readings as an indication of trend and magnitude rather than as a certified measurement.
3. How to read our performance figures
All performance figures on this website are maximum "up to" values obtained under laboratory or controlled test conditions. They are not guaranteed results in any particular home, car, office or use case.
- Filtration efficiency is a laboratory measurement of the filter media at a stated particle size. It describes the filter, not the air in your room and not the whole appliance in use.
- CADR and coverage area are each model's stated maximum. Coverage assumes a set number of air changes per hour in a sealed space, so a larger, busier, higher-ceilinged or less sealed room will clear more slowly, or may not reach the stated result at all.
- Noise figures are typical values at the stated fan setting, usually sleep mode, under test conditions. Real-world noise is higher at higher fan speeds.
- Battery run-time figures are maximums at the lowest power setting and reduce with fan speed, ambient temperature and battery age.
- Power consumption figures are rated values. Actual consumption depends on fan speed and mode. Any electricity cost estimate we publish is an illustration based on assumed tariffs and running hours, and your actual bill will differ.
Model-specific figures are listed on each product page and apply only to that model.
4. Filter life
This section covers the asterisk on "Long-life filter system lasting up to 2.5+ years*" and all other filter-life figures.
Filter-life figures are maximum values under favourable conditions. Filter life is consumed by pollutant load rather than by time, so it depends on your local air quality, how many hours a day the unit runs, the fan speed used, and the size and use of the room. In heavily polluted conditions, filter life will be considerably shorter than the maximum stated, and in some conditions it will be a matter of months rather than years.
Every unit carries a filter-life indicator. Reduced airflow, or a filter that is visibly loaded, are also signs that a change is due. Filters are consumable parts and are not covered by warranty.
5. Particle sizes, filtration percentages, germ claims and ionisation
This section covers the asterisk on "Ultra-fine particles* Down to 0.003 µm" in the product quiz.
Our filtration stacks contain several distinct layers, and each layer is rated at its own particle size and its own efficiency under its own test method. Where a particle size or a percentage appears next to a named layer, it belongs to that layer alone. These figures are not interchangeable, they do not combine, and none of them describes the performance of the finished appliance in a real room. A very small particle size quoted for one specialised layer does not mean the machine removes all particles of that size from your air.
All such figures are laboratory measurements of filter media, taken at a stated particle size under controlled airflow. They describe capture efficiency of the media on a single pass, not the proportion of pollutants removed from a room.
Germ, bacteria and virus language. Where we describe UV-C sterilisation, antimicrobial silver-copper layers or germ inactivation, we are describing what the technology is designed to do to organisms captured within the machine, under test conditions. It is not a claim that a KyoAir unit sterilises the air in your room, eliminates pathogens from your room, or reduces anyone's risk of infection. Not every model includes a UV-C or antimicrobial stage. Please check the specification of the model you are buying.
Ionisation. Ion output figures are rated maximums measured at the unit under test conditions. Where a model is described as ozone-free or as producing no ozone, that description reflects testing of that model under those conditions and is not a measurement of your room.
Chemical and VOC breakdown. Catalytic and photocatalytic layers are designed to break down certain gases and VOCs under test conditions. Performance depends on concentration, humidity, airflow and the condition of the catalyst, and no such layer removes all gaseous pollutants.
6. Independent testing and certifications
Where we cite an independent test, we name the laboratory so that you can verify it.
- The live SARS-CoV-2 result was a controlled laboratory test of airborne virus reduction carried out by Innovative Bioanalysis Inc., a CAP and CLIA licensed United States laboratory, against a specific variant under specific test conditions. It demonstrates the tested unit's ability to capture and reduce airborne virus particles in that test. It is not a claim that any KyoAir product prevents COVID-19, or any other infection, in real-world use.
- CADR figures described as certified were measured by the Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology, CNAS accredited.
- Electrical safety is certified to UL. Electromagnetic compatibility is certified by Waltek on applicable models.
A certification applies to the specific model and the specific sample tested, under the conditions of that test. It does not extend across the whole product range unless we say so. CADR testing measures airflow rate and measurable pollutant reduction over time. It is not a claim of complete removal of airborne particles, and it is not a claim of sterilisation.
All certificates and full test reports are available on request. Write to us and we will send them.
7. The Clean Air Guarantee
This section covers the asterisks on "GUARANTEED RESULTS, OR YOUR MONEY BACK*", on "if it does not work, we take it back*", and on "you get your money back*" in the 15-Day Clean Air Guarantee block. These all refer to this one guarantee. They are not separate or broader promises, and the terms below apply wherever the guarantee appears.
The Clean Air Guarantee is about measured particulate, not about health. We measure the particulate level in your room before and after installation, on a monitor you can see. If we do not achieve a measurable reduction, we will first try to resolve it, usually by adjusting placement or by swapping the unit, at no cost to you. If we still cannot achieve a measurable reduction, we will refund your purchase.
The guarantee covers a measurable reduction in particulate. It does not guarantee a specific target number, a specific AQI, or any health result.
Window. A claim under this guarantee must be raised within 15 days of delivery. Claims raised after that window are not eligible.
Conditions. The measurement must be carried out by KyoAir or under our guidance, in a single enclosed room, with the unit correctly placed and sized for that room, with doors and windows closed, and with the unit allowed to run for the period we specify before the second reading is taken. Readings taken while an active pollution source is present, for example ongoing cooking, incense, smoking, construction or an open window, do not form a valid basis for a claim. The guarantee applies to whole-room purifiers used in a home or office. It does not apply to in-car or wearable products, or to monitors.
Eligibility. KyoAir determines eligibility under this guarantee, including whether a measurement was validly taken and whether a replacement or a refund is the appropriate remedy. We apply it in good faith and we would rather solve the problem than argue about it, but the decision rests with us.
Relationship to our other policies. This guarantee is an express exception to the general return conditions in our Refund Policy. A unit returned under this guarantee will necessarily have been opened, installed and used, and that alone does not disqualify a claim. In every other respect the Refund Policy applies. The guarantee is separate from and in addition to your product warranty.
8. Comfort and everyday wellbeing language
This section covers the asterisk on "your family's skin, sinuses, and sleep actually need this difference*".
Some product pages describe cleaner or humidity-balanced air in terms of everyday comfort, for example how a room may feel for skin, sinuses, throat or sleep. That is descriptive language about the experience of being in a filtered, humidity-balanced room. It is not a medical claim, a clinical outcome, or a promise that any particular person will notice any particular effect. Individual experience varies. Please read it alongside Section 1.
Humidity control on models that offer it is a comfort feature. It is not a treatment for any skin, sinus, respiratory or sleep condition.
9. Smart features, app control and automation
This section covers the asterisk on "turning humidification on and off based on real-time readings*".
Automation features that respond to live readings require the specific combination of hardware described on the product page, which may include a separate KyoAir SENTRY monitor and a compatible smart-home setup. They are not available on every model and are not available from a purifier on its own.
App, Wi-Fi and smart-home features depend on a working internet connection and on the continued availability of third-party platforms such as Google Home and Alexa, under those platforms' own terms. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of any connected feature, and connected features may change as third-party platforms change.
Where a comparison table shows a live readout with an asterisk, that readout is provided by the separate KyoAir SENTRY device and is not built into the purifier.
10. The KyoAir SENTRY monitor
SENTRY is an indicative indoor air-quality monitor for general awareness. It is not a safety device.
SENTRY is not a certified carbon monoxide alarm, not a smoke or fire detector, and not a gas leak detector. It must not be relied on for life-safety purposes and is not a substitute for certified safety alarms installed to the applicable standard. Please install proper certified alarms in your home regardless of whether you own a SENTRY.
The parameter count shown for SENTRY includes both directly sensed values and values derived or displayed from them. Individual sensors carry the tolerances published in the specifications on the product page. Readings are indicative rather than reference grade, and can drift over time or be affected by temperature, humidity and sensor age.
11. ROAM FREE and personal use
ROAM FREE is a personal comfort and filtration accessory. It is not certified personal protective equipment, it is not a respirator, and it is not certified to any respiratory protection standard.
It does not provide a guaranteed face seal, and the protection you receive depends on the fit and condition of the mask used with it. It must not be used as respiratory protection in any occupational, industrial, medical, chemical or otherwise hazardous environment, and it must not be relied on anywhere a certified respirator is required.
Any figure on the ROAM FREE page that describes room air, including a room AQI before and after figure, describes filter performance under test conditions and does not describe the air you breathe while wearing the device outdoors.
12. Comparison with other brands
Comparison tables use each competing brand's own published specifications and their listed Indian retail prices at the time the comparison was prepared. Prices change often and street prices are usually below MRP, so please check the seller for the current figure. Specifications and models change too, and a comparison is accurate only as at the date it was compiled.
Coverage figures are each brand's own stated maximum and may be measured under different air-change assumptions, so they are a guide rather than a like-for-like comparison. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, we say so rather than estimating one. Some manufacturers do not publish a CADR rating and use their own whole-room test method instead, so no CADR comparison is possible for those models.
Comparisons reflect published specifications only. We do not represent that we have independently tested any competing product, and nothing in a comparison table is a statement about how a competing product performs in practice.
All third-party brand names, model names, logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and comparison only. No affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied.
13. Product images, videos and visual material
Product images, renders, infographics, videos and lifestyle photography on this website are illustrative. Some are renders rather than photographs. They may show accessories or arrangements that are not included, and colour and finish may differ from the delivered product depending on your screen. Images of a product placed in a room are for scale and context only and do not represent measured performance.
Diagrams showing airflow, particles or ion fields are visual illustrations of how the technology is intended to work. They are not photographs of measured behaviour.
14. Business, enterprise and workplace claims
This section covers the asterisks on the statistics shown on our enterprise pages.
Statistics we cite about indoor air quality, absenteeism, cognitive performance and workplace productivity are taken from published third-party research and industry sources. They describe findings from specific studies conducted in specific conditions with specific populations, and they are reproduced here as general context about indoor air quality.
They are not our own findings, they are not a prediction about your organisation, they are not a forecast of savings you will make, and they are not a claim about what a KyoAir deployment will achieve for you. Figures presented as an upper bound describe the highest result observed in the source material and should not be read as a typical or expected outcome. We do not warrant the accuracy of third-party research and we do not undertake to keep these figures updated.
Free air audits, site assessments, deployment proposals, dashboards, AMC coverage and any rental or co-branding option described on our enterprise pages are offered subject to a written agreement. Nothing on those pages is an offer capable of acceptance or a binding commitment. Coverage guidance given for planning purposes is indicative and the final configuration is set during the site assessment.
Dealer margins, demo units, deal registration, territory protection and partner-tier benefits described on our partner pages are subject to a signed partner agreement and to the terms in force at the time. Nothing on those pages creates an entitlement.
Client logos shown on our enterprise pages identify organisations that have deployed or purchased KyoAir products. Their marks remain the property of those organisations and appear for identification only. Their presence is not an endorsement of any specific claim on this website.
15. Pricing, offers, stock and included items
All prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include GST where applicable. The price you see is our genuine selling price. We do not inflate a regular price or an MRP in order to display a larger discount. Where an item is described as included free, or shown with a value, that value is the real standalone price of that item and not a notional figure.
Prices, promotional codes, bundled items and included extras can change at any time. The price shown at checkout is the price that applies.
Stock counts shown on product pages are drawn from live inventory and are indicative at the moment of viewing.
Extended warranty, included filter sets and lifetime support offers described as included apply to the model on whose page they appear, as at the time of purchase, and are subject to the terms in force then. Included items vary by model.
16. Exchanges, returns and warranty
This section covers the asterisk on "Free Exchange*".
If a unit arrives damaged, arrives faulty, or develops a manufacturing defect, that is our responsibility and we will replace it at no cost to you. To make a claim you must record a clear unboxing or damage video showing the issue and send it to us with your order details within the reporting window set out in our Refund Policy. Claims made without that video, or after the window has closed, may not be eligible. The full conditions are in the Refund Policy and that page governs.
The free exchange does not cover a change of mind, an incorrect model choice, accidental damage, or normal wear. Consumable parts, including filters, are not covered.
Change-of-mind returns are handled separately and are subject to the conditions in our Refund Policy. Warranty terms and duration are set out on each product page. Warranty does not cover damage from physical mishandling, improper use, power surges or voltage fluctuation, use with an incompatible power source, or the routine wear of consumable parts.
17. Customer reviews and testimonials
Reviews and testimonials are the personal experiences and opinions of individual customers. They are not a guarantee that you will have the same experience, and they are not a claim by KyoAir. Where a customer describes how they feel, that is their own account and not a health claim by us. Nothing in a review or testimonial should be read as a medical or health claim, whatever the wording used, and Section 1 applies to all of it.
Star ratings and review counts reflect reviews received at the time of display and change over time.
18. Doctors and health professionals
Any doctor or health professional quoted on this website speaks as an authority on air quality generally. Nothing they say is a product endorsement, a medical recommendation, a diagnosis or medical advice, and nothing they say should be relied on in place of consulting your own doctor.
19. Blog, guides and third-party content
Articles on our blog and our buying guides are general information and opinion, current as at the date of publication. They are not advice, and we do not undertake to keep them updated. Headlines and titles are editorial and are not claims about any specific reader, workplace or product.
This website links to third-party websites and uses third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices of any third-party site or service.
20. Scope of this page
This page should be read together with our Terms of Service, Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy and Legal Notice. Where more than one of those documents deals with the same subject, they are to be read in conjunction. Where a genuine conflict exists between this page and our Terms of Service or Refund Policy, those documents govern, save that Section 7 above operates as an express exception to the Refund Policy as stated there.
Nothing on this website is to be treated as a representation, warranty, guarantee or commitment by KyoAir unless it is expressly stated as one on this page, in our Terms of Service, or in a written agreement signed by us. No inference, implication, extrapolation or assumption drawn from any statement, figure, image, comparison, article, illustration or omission on this website creates any right, entitlement or obligation on our part. Anything not expressly stated is not given, promised or implied, and may not be relied upon.
Product specifications, features, included items and pricing are subject to change without notice. This website may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and we reserve the right to correct them at any time.
Nothing on this page limits or excludes any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 or any other applicable Indian law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
