IQAir is the best-marketed purifier in the world. Let's look at what you actually get.
Honest comparison, data only.
No brand tax. No Swiss sticker. Just filtration layers, CADR transparency, filter cost, and what the money actually buys in an Indian home.
In brief
- IQAir HealthPro Plus retails in India at ₹80,000+. KyoAir Bioguard, with higher coverage, 7 filtration layers, UV sterilisation, and Indian-calibrated VOC removal, is ₹54,999.
- IQAir does not publish a standard CADR (AHAM, IEC, or GB/T). Without a standard figure, you cannot verify how fast it cleans a room. Their coverage claims use proprietary methodology.
- HyperHEPA claims filtration to 0.003 microns. True H13 already captures 99.97% of PM2.5 at 0.3 microns. The gap below H13 is real, but not the primary concern in Indian air. What Indian air needs more is VOC depth, UV kill, and CADR sized for actual Indian rooms.
- IQAir filter replacement costs ₹25,000–45,000 every two years across three separate filter stages. The 5-year total cost of ownership can exceed ₹1.5 lakh, a figure that is almost never part of the sales conversation.

IQAir HealthPro Plus is their flagship room purifier, the one people consider when they want the best. Here is what that comparison actually looks like against KyoAir Bioguard, our near-medical-grade model at a comparable tier.

The number IQAir won't give you.
CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is the only standardised way to compare how fast a purifier cleans a room. It is used by AHAM (US), IEC (international), and GB/T (China). IQAir does not publish a standard CADR for any of their home models. They use their own proprietary “AirClean Performance” methodology, which cannot be independently verified or compared against any other unit.
| Model | Published CADR | Coverage | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| IQAir HealthPro Plus | Not published (proprietary rating only) | ~1,000 sq ft (claimed) | ₹80,000–90,000 |
| KyoAir Bioguard | 488 m³/h | 1,700 sq ft | ₹54,999 |
| KyoAir Atmos | 500 m³/h | 1,800 sq ft | ₹61,999 |
| KyoAir Titan | 760 m³/h | 2,500 sq ft | ₹63,999 |
When a brand charges ₹80,000 for a purifier and does not publish a standard CADR, that absence is itself information. You cannot verify what you are buying. You are taking the marketing at its word.
The cost nobody mentions at purchase.
IQAir runs three separate filter stages on three separate replacement schedules. This is what five-year ownership actually costs, at conservative estimates based on IQAir India pricing. Filter costs are additional to the purchase price and billed separately at each replacement.
| Cost item | IQAir HealthPro Plus | KyoAir Bioguard |
|---|---|---|
| Unit purchase price | ₹80,000–90,000 | ₹54,999 |
| HyperHEPA filter, every 2–4 years | ~₹32,000–36,000 | – |
| V5-Cell gas filter, every 1.5–2 years | ~₹30,000–42,000 | – |
| Pre-Max pre-filter, every 6–12 months | ~₹21,000–30,000 | – |
| Single filter replacement | – | One cycle, 2.5+ year filter life |
| 5-year total (unit + filters) | ₹1,63,000–1,98,000 | ₹54,999 + one filter replacement |
Marketing claim, checked against the data
"HyperHEPA filters to 0.003 microns, far beyond standard HEPA."
This is technically true. It is also the centrepiece of IQAir's premium positioning, and it is largely irrelevant to the air quality problem in an Indian home.
PM2.5, the primary dangerous pollutant, is 2.5 microns. True H13 HEPA already captures 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns. The filtration capability between 0.3 microns and 0.003 microns addresses a real, but secondary, threat. In Indian air, the larger, more urgent problems are VOCs from high-heat cooking and agarbatti, post-monsoon mould aerosolisation, airborne bacteria, and PM2.5 loads that are 15 to 20 times above WHO limits. None of these are better addressed by sub-0.003-micron filtration. They require depth of layers, active sterilisation, and CADR sized for Indian rooms.
KyoAir's NanoCapture Matrix captures particles to 0.001 microns, finer than IQAir's HyperHEPA claim. The real story is not how far below H13 either unit goes. It is what else the unit is doing above it.
H13 handles PM2.5. What Indian air also needs: Super Dense Activated Carbon for cooking VOCs, IonCore sterilisation for bacteria, UV UltraShield for post-monsoon mould, and CADR sized for rooms that are actually Indian.
Built for Europe. Priced for India.
VOC profile mismatch
IQAir's V5-Cell gas filter is engineered for Western VOC profiles: household cleaners, synthetic carpets, paint. Indian indoor air is dominated by high-heat cooking aerosols, agarbatti benzene, and construction dust that comes through building gaps. The V5-Cell is not calibrated for this cocktail.
Coverage falls short
IQAir's ~1,000 sq ft coverage is barely adequate for a standard Mumbai or Delhi living room. A typical 3BHK living area with an open kitchen is already pushing that limit. KyoAir Bioguard covers 1,700 sq ft, Atmos 1,800 sq ft, and Titan 2,500 sq ft, sized for actual Indian spaces.
No UV sterilisation
IQAir HealthPro Plus includes no UV sterilisation layer. Post-monsoon mould aerosolisation and year-round airborne bacteria are specific to Indian conditions. KyoAir's UV UltraShield Engine and IonCore silver-copper sterilisation address this directly. Bioguard adds the Hydron Ioniser on top.
Support routes through importers
IQAir service in India routes through importers. Any issue, motor fault, filter fit, calibration, becomes a logistics and wait-time problem. KyoAir's service is Aditya's personal WhatsApp: the number on every page, and the number he answers.

A note from Aditya
I am not saying IQAir is a bad product. For European air quality, European rooms, and someone in Zurich, it is probably excellent. The question is whether it makes sense for an Indian home, where the pollutant profile is entirely different, the rooms are larger, and you will quietly spend another ₹80,000–1,00,000 on filters over the next five years.
I built KyoAir because that question had an obvious answer that nobody in this market was willing to say clearly.
